Falcons/Eagles Playoff Game Outing at Joes
(1/11) - A great time with some good friends, and of course, and
Eagles
WIN!
-
Nora's Pre-Dancing Party and Dancing Outing at Nacional
27
(1/18) - Nora always throws
great bashes, but of course I don't dance, at
least not sober, so that kind of put the kibosh on that one.
-
McGee's Valentines Day Party (2/14) A good
crowd of PPC regulars including both the Ronin and some couples, showed up
to check out the newly-expanded McGee's and partake of
$15 all-you-can
drink for 3 hours. If only they tracked how much our crew drinks, they
probably would never let us in again.
-
Tommy Fitz's Birthday Party at Grammercy
(2/28) - A great showing by the PPC regulars, reasonable food prices, but
brutal drink prices resulting in
stratospheric bar tab knocked this one
out of the running.
-
Kerry, Stephanie E's, and Stephanie S.'s Birthday Party at Linda's
(3/1) - A
great time with a great turnout but without the concurrent
street fest, Linda's Retro on Roscoe edged this one out.
-
Chicago St. Patrick's Day Saturday Partyage
(3/15) - Yet another spectacular
St. Patrick's Day in Chicago, but this
year we didn't do such headline things like start at Fado or hit the
downtown parade, and sandwiched between Cooney's Guinnessfest and Dante's
South Side Irish Parade Bus Outing, both 2003 winners, it was a bit of a
letdown in comparison.
-
Liz's Wine Tasting Party (3/22) - Smaller
than in prior years, but still the downfall of my Shamrock Shuffle race
time the next day.
-
Dave's Birthday Outing at Buddy Guy's Legends
(3/28) Fun outing with friends and
got to meet Buddy
Guy himself.
-
Mike's Paintball Outing (3/29) Technically
not even a party event, but
so much fun I had to put it on the list.
-
Roscoe Village Pub Crawl #1 (4/5) These are
always
fun neighborhood crawls, just wish as it grows they would get some
larger venues on the back end. Black Rock and Riverview are great, but
don't try and get 100 people into Four Moons!
-
Waukesha HHH Lampshade Run and Bockbierfest afterwards
(4/26) This was actually a
wickedly fun combination of stuff and VERY
narrowly missed inclusion on the list. Running, and drinking, and then a
whole heck of a lot more drinking. Almost stayed in Tosa that night.
-
Festa's Jamaica Jam at Cubby Bear for Lakeview Shelter
(5/1) Being on a school night (Thursday) this one
started off a bit slow but gained momentum later on and was
a great time.
The Halloween equivalent of this at Murphy's vindicated the concept and is
on the Big List.
-
Laura's Recovery Party (5/17) Great to see
Laura back in the game after her illness this past winter!
-
Chicago HHH PoP Run and Postparty at Weed's
(5/31) Great run and great postparty. This event has been gaining momentum
each year and will likely be strong contender to edge out Waukesha RDR in
2004.

Gerulski's Harborfest Bar Golf Outing (6/10)
Missed the bar golf portion but when the group caught up at Harborfest I
could see this was the equivalent of The Masters but with hard liquor too!
Not as large numbers but on a per-capita consumption basis, in a totally
different league!
-
Last
Ever Old Town Art Fair Party On Chantal's Old Steps
(6/14). Well the place is sold so time to say goodbye
to a long and storied PPC tradition. R.I.P.
-
Sal's Boat Outing in Belmont Harbor and Bucktown Postpartyage
(6/27) What started as a quiet let's have a few beers on Sal's boat
devolved into
full fledge drinkfest which ended with a mini pub crawl in
Bucktown!
-
2003
Finance Intern Cubs Game Outing to Wrigley Field
(7/11) A great time was had by all and
the UIC interns gave the Madison
stalwarts a run for their money, and Jaeger Bombs at the Union has now
become part of this storied tradition, but I don't think we'll ever top
the Class of 2000!!
-
Larry Singer's "Movies in the Yard" (7/12).
BBQ, Kegs, lawn chairs, wonderful weather, rented video projector, big
screen, and killer sound system showing "The Sting" and "Fast Times at
Ridgemont High" coupled with lack of neighbors made this cross between and
outdoor Brew & View and mini-Grant Park Movies in the Park!
-
Sheffield Garden Walk Partyage (7/19) In
normal years three parties plus a major street fest is a shoe-in to make
the list, and volunteer bartending with Pam's crew gave it a new spin this
year, but ever since the Sheffield Neighbors moved the fest off of
Webster it hasn't been the same.
Day One /
Day Two
-
Taste of Lincoln Avenue and Rick's Post TOLA Party
(7/26) Always a blast, two days of great partyage including getting up at
the unholy hour of
9am on a Saturday to help setup the Festastuff booth, but without the Jen's rooftop as a closer anymore,
it seems to be missing something too. Also,
the mayhem continues for a second day.
-
Great Taste of the Midwest (8/9) A great
beer festival in Madison and a good time with good friends. Just doesn't
have the "24/7 party like you're a college student again" panache that
we've come to expect from Madison because of Badger football Saturdays.

-
Taste of Hoevel XV (8/23) This
perennial
favorite went great in Labaugh Forest Preserve picnic, but the post-TOH
house party back in the city somehow did not feel like it carried over the momentum of
its legendary heritage.
-
PPC
2003 Grant Park Movie Outing (8/26) This
annual favorite was once again
blessed with good weather and a good
turnout.
-
Nelanka's Rooftop Kegger (9/20) Who can
dislike a
rooftop kegger in Bucktown with good beer!
-
Amy
and Pauli's Party (9/26) Did you say
House
Party hosted by a chick who prefers draft beer over
fruity chick drinks? Sure, I'll have some of that!
-
Mr.
Moose's Charity Pub Crawl (9/27) A
good
event in a cool location for a good cause. Just don't forget you're in Old
Town so the specials aren't like those we get cruising up Southport, so
bring a few extra bucks with you.
-
Waukesha HHH Road Rally (10/11) A LOT of
work went into setting this up and it was still fun, just too bad the
final 1/3 of the course had to be abandoned because of darkness and then I
had to bail on my $30 dinner to be back in Chicago for later events. But
count me and the Cop Car in for next year!
-
Waukesha HHH Halloween Run (10/25) Starting
at Miller Park was great and really cool trail, not to mention the
pirate
ship at the end was the coup de grace!
-
Chicago Sport and Social Club Halloween Party at John Barleycorn
(10/31) Always great to
bring out the crew at a major venue like John
Barleycorn Wrigleyville, it's just coming up right after the Festa's
Lakeview Shelter party at Murphy's it seemed less intimate and friendly by
comparison.
-
Roscoe Village Pub Crawl #2 (11/8)
Good
turnout and lots of fun people, just the fact they use the same route all
the time and the same too small bars at the end diminishes an otherwise
very cool event.
-
Goodwill Guzzle at My Bar for Mr. Moose's
(11/14) Good turnout by the regulars and you can't go wrong with 3 hours
of drinking for ten bucks, especially at our friend TJ's new place!
-
Karin & Belinda's Booze & Schmooze at Augie's
(11/21) If this were a Top 26 List, this party would be on it. Free good
beer during primetime on a Friday night at a cool local venue.
Watch out
for this one in 2004!
-
Carrie and Jen's Birthday Bash in Wrigleyville
(11/22) Always a
blast at a party with my favorite girls!
-
Philly HHH Run at Kokomo's in West Conshohocken and Conshohocken Postparty
Bar Tour (11/29)
Thanks to Katie and Janet
for a GREAT TIME! This one went way longer than I expected and I got in
HUGE TROUBLE because of how late I got home.
-
H3Event's Afterwork Party at Kendall's
(12/5) Never been to one of these before but looks like the Goodwill
Guzzle at My Bar has
some serious competition. Add the fact it's walking
(stumbling) distance to/from Party Central and the live music and this one
is a real contender for my Friday night ten bucks!
-
Trevafest 2003 (12/20) This is an
annual
holiday favorite among our core group and now that it doesn't overlap TBOX
anymore hopefully I can attend more of it. Bonus points
for the Lord of the Rings Brew 'n View afterwards.
-
Holiday Movies at the Mahu's (12/23)
The 10th iteration of what started out as Michigan
B-School post finals decompression exercise is always a low-key party with
the core crew, but it's always fun to put the
Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Grinch,
The Year Without A Santa Claus, and A
Christmas Story up on the widescreen and crack open a few beers with
friends. Postparty action at Burwood Tap was a bonus
too - $2 Becks!!
-
Nora's Eve of the Eve Preparty at
China Club Lofts and Jim's EoE House Party at Irving & Sheridan
(12/30) The pre-New Year's Eve Doubleheader started off with the
PPC
glitterati all dressed up and ready to party at Nora's and included
celebrity guest appearances by PPC co-founder Marietta visiting from
London and Mahu's sister Michelle visiting from Hawaii.
Jim's house party was another classic with nearly all of the beer and
tons of vodka put away by the usual suspects. Look out 2004!!
