Weekly Feature(s):

  • NPR Time Kill of the Week: Fishing for Furniture Off Dauphin Island. Quite an odd thing to fish for, eh? In part two of his boat trip through the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, Noah Adams visits Dauphin Island, where fishermen and local residents are trying to rebuild their economy.

Fridge Door Bonus Pic!

Dr. Craig who came in all the way from Hawaii joins the PPC veterans (Mahu, KK and Chris) to tie one on in 2005!

Thanks to the over 350 peeps who turned out for the 2005 12 Bars of Christmas. Pictures of this wipeout can be found here.

Last but not least we have his Festa-ness himself making a celebrity appearance at the PPC's 12 Bars showing why he's "cash money". Don't forget Festa's 12 Bars is this Saturday in Wrigleyville! Click here to purchase tickets for this annual wipeout!

My buddy Andrea (right) who is one of the newer die-hard regulars at the 12 Bars once again brings out the crew for our annual classic.

Hey friends,

Thanks to the 350+ revelers who turned out in force for our annual 12 Bars of Christmas Pub Crawl in Lincoln Park. I have to say I was surprised by the large number of peeps @ Bricks despite the new start location and earlier start time. The names of all the glitterati are too numerous to mention but I have to give special thanks to Mike for rallying an unexpectedly large contingent as well as Andrea for once again representing with her crew of die-hards, Sandy & friends from the Shuman/Uhlir crew, Erin who was a former intern w/my old company & friends, and West Loop 'Hood Karen and the PPC old guard (Mahu, Jonas Pave & Dam, heck even Mini Mahu got a hall pass and we even had a rare Shaun & Christine sighting!) as well as Kathy and the cast of thousands from the MeetIn crew. Even His-Festa-ness graced us with a celebrity appearance! Mad props to y'all and mark your calendars for the 10th Annual 12 Bars on Saturday December 2, 2006!!

And speaking of His Festa-ness, this weekend is the other bookend to the holiday pub crawl season with Chris Festa's 1800+ person blowout TBOX 10 (Twelve Bars Of Xmas) in Wrigleyville starting @ 11am at Sheffied's (Sheffield & School). I will be there for all 16 bars! Note for those who have never been, preregistration is HIGHLY recommended. (http://www.festastuff.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=tbox10).

This year, our goal is to sponsor 20 Chicago families, and with your help, we can do it! You may donate anything from non-perishable food items to toiletries to household cleaning supplies at any of our locations from now until December 20, and we will also host special parties where our $15 meal package can be yours for just $10 if you bring in an item to donate. The meal package will include a buffet, domestic drafts and well drinks and it will be available at McGee's this Saturday, December 3, from 8:30-11:30pm, at Duffy's Friday and Saturday, December 2 & 3, from 8:30-11:30pm, and at Wrightwood Tap on Friday, December 9 from 7-10pm. Hey Gang,

This Thursday Dec. 8th is the Lodge Management bars Holiday parties. All the sales & tips generated that day at each bar is divided among the employees as their holiday bonus so the clubs will be rockin'!!!

Once again this year I'm coordinating a pub crawl and would love for everyone to join me. We're beginning at Streeter's Tavern at 50 E. Chicago Ave at 8:30pm. From there we are going around the corner to Pippin's Tavern then working our way to Division Street where we will visit every Lodge Management bar. We will end at the Original Mother's for a night of Live Band Karaoke.

This is a great opportunity to gather all your friends for some Holiday cheer...so pass this on and come on out and play!

Happy Holidays and I hope to see you all there!

Thursday, December 8 & Friday, December 9: Labatt's Hose Hockey Promotion @ Independence Tap (Thu) & Slugger's (Fri)

Editor's Note: My friend Jim who works for a local liquor distributor will be doing this promotion so Friday just might include a confirmed Fuji sighting at the ending bar as a  warm-up for TBOX!!

----

Hi Everyone-

My job requires me to be at a Labatt Hose Hockey promotion on Thursday at Independence Tap, 3932 W. Irving (it is just about 8 blocks south and 1 block east of Murray's) from 8-10pm. Come on over after the hash for Labatts- or if you are not a hasher c'mon over at 8pm.

Labatt Hose Hockey is an inflatable hockey rink with air hoses that drive a puck toward the goal.  Each team consists of three players and there is an actual tournament thing that has great prizes (rumor hash it that there are Blackhawk tickets).  Plus $ 2.00 Labatt pints and Rhotan with the expense account.  So put together a team of three and try to win......at least come and drink with me.

Same thing goes for Friday-
The Labatt Hose Hockey will be at Sluggers,  3540 N. Clark Street, on Friday from 9-11pm.
Again, I will be forced to drink Labatt (hey, it's my job!) and be the head hoser.

anyway, I'll be out drinking again- c'mon and join me-

Jim

Improvidate @ Fizz

Improvidate:

Whether your last blind date was 10 years ago or 10 hours ago, you'll enjoy Improvidate, the hilarious sketch and improv comedy about the ups and downs of dating. It's a fun night whether you're single, dating or married -- we all have our dating stories!

The performance begins with prepared scenes about dating -- needing a wingman, getting fixed up, figuring out if you're being asked on a date or just to 'hang out.'  Think dating clichés turned on their head.  At intermission, chat with other singles, friends, or your date/spouse as you generate ideas for improv scenes.  In Act 2, the cast takes those ideas and improvises scenes right before your eyes!

It's fun for holiday outings, birthdays, or just a night out on the town.  Bring the book club or a few friends from work.  Grab a buddy -- or the whole gang.  Ask a date.  Celebrate the end of 2005 with lots of laughs!

DECEMBER SPECIALS: Tickets are $20, with 2-for-1 on Thursdays.
If you organize a group of 8 or more, your ticket is FREE!
Thursdays/Fridays ~ Dec 1, 2, 8, 9   8:00PM (Box office opens at 7)
