Here's a picture of the MeetIn crew @ Crapple last Friday night at J&R Tap. Drink cheap beer at a dive bar and pay more money for a chance to win lousy prizes. What's there not to love about this? More pix from this monthly wipeout can be found here.

Weekly Feature(s):

  • NPR Time Kill of the Week: Coming Soon to Satellite: Al-Jazeera, In English · The Arab satellite news channel -- known to many Americans as the station that airs statements of Osama bin Laden -- will soon launch an English-language network. Al-Jazeera executives are hoping that Americans will tune in, out of curiosity if nothing else. However, the network has obstacles to overcome, including its image in the United States.

Friday, September 9: John Corry's Happy Hour @ John Barleycorn Lincoln Park

HAPPY HOUR

WHERE:  JOHN BARLEYCORN (Lincoln Park) Lincoln/Belden.

WHEN:  Friday September 9th @ 7:00 PM

WHAT DO I GET:  More drink than you can drink!  All drafts, wine, pop, all
stoli drinks, well drinks, food buffet.  Some give-a ways.

Helloooooo,

Another busy summer is coming to and end and like last summer and all summers before it since the beginning of time, the winter mating/hibernating season has begun.  All the animals in the Chicago forest are realizing that they have spent too much time with weasels, foxes and snakes.  Perhaps some of the male animals drank too much, took home a fox and woke up with a cow. Maybe some of the females did the same thing when they took home what they thought was a deer and ended up with a snake.  Maybe it was the snake they were after all the time.. Never the less, the fall scramble is on again. It's time to find that special someone for winter sleepovers.  Where do I go you ask?  Where can I find a bar filled with people my age who aren't social misfits?  Someplace fun where I can get a cab?  Someplace where the drink prices won't kill me isn't smokey, and I get food? Someplace where I can get a drink, where jeans?  I got it!

Barleycorn in Lincoln Park!  The back room side bar and tented area are ours.  However, you can get a drink at any bar in the place!!  The food buffet will be great and we made some improvements on the items.  There are more tap beers than I can list and you get all Stoli drinks included.  I am always adding new people to the HH list so there are always new faces.  All complainers feel free to find a city with better looking people that have this much fun!  Go to the back room for the wristband.  An improvement from last party is that we will hand you the wristband and not put it on for you. Do what you want with it but you can't get a drink without one so move along so the line isn't bad and grab a brew!

The charity this time is....TBA.  I promised three people who emailed me and to be truthful I lost track and somehow deleted the e-mails.  So you know who you are, e-mail me back and we will set it up for the next three.  For those that don't know, I do not make a dime on these happy hours.  100% of the $ 5.00 per head goes to the selected charity.  There is room for everyone because we can use the entire bar so don't freak out about a little line, it moves quick!  And you better too if you want to find someone.   See you there!

John Corry
