As Always You Can Also Find Last Week's Fridge Door Pictures of the Week on the PPC Home Page - Click Here

Here's a picture of Pam's crew serving at the beer tent at the Sheffield Garden Walk Saturday afternoon. We had an early shift so the crowds were light and I probably drank more beer than I sold! A few more pix from that event can be found here.

Also, some bonus pix from the Sheffield Garden Walk Architectural Tour here.

Tony represents closing down the Festastuff booth at Summer on Southport! Despite the 104 degree temperatures the cutting crew deviated from our tradition of closing the Sheffield Garden Walk to hit this somewhat sparsely attended (due to the heat!) but awesome fest.

Special thanks to the over 120 partiers that joined us for our 2nd annual Ten Innings at Wrigley Pub Crawl.

Mark you calendars for our 9th Annual 12 Bars of Christmas on Saturday, December 3, 2005!

Tuesday, August 2 - Tuesday, August 23: Chicago Outdoor Film Festival In Grant Park

Chicago Outdoor Film Festival

Screens Roger Ebert’s Great Movies

Tuesday’s at Sunset in Butler Field in Grant Park at Lake Shore Drive & Monroe

Chicago announces the 6th Annual Chicago Outdoor Film Festival, presented by ComEd, Charter One Bank, the Mayor's Office of Special Events and the Chicago Park District. Beloved and respected film critic Roger Ebert has personally selected this year's lineup, choosing titles from his books: Great Movies and Great Movies II. The movies are: Citizen Kane, Annie Hall, My Darling Clementine, E.T., The Night of the Hunter, The Hustler, and Star Wars.

The City is proclaiming July 12, “Roger Ebert Day in Chicago,” and will pay tribute to him with a sidewalk plaque under the marquee at the Chicago Theatre. The Chicago Theatre is a historic landmark, one of the first such buildings in the nation of its kind and is the oldest surviving theater in the city. On opening night of the Chicago Outdoor Film Fest (July 12), the public can join the city and film critic Richard Roeper in celebration as it pays tribute to Roger Ebert at the Chicago Outdoor Film Festival. The program will begin at 8 p.m. Ebert will also receive a Star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame this summer.

Roger Ebert was born in Urbana, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois where he was editor of the school newspaper, The Daily Illini. In 1967, after graduate school at the University of Chicago, he became film critic for the Chicago Sun-Times. He was the first movie critic to receive the Pulitzer Prize, in 1975, for arts criticism. Ebert is a syndicated in 200 papers across the United States and co-host of “Ebert and Roeper and the Movies,” along with Sun-Times movie critic and columnist Richard Roeper.

Ebert has been credited with speaking the common man’s language when it comes to critiquing movies, something he is loved for around the globe. Ebert is a world-renowned critic, and a Chicago institution and chooses to live in what he calls “The Greatest City,” Chicago! Ebert resides in Chicago with his wife Chaz Hammelsmith Ebert and their family.

"On behalf of the City of Chicago, I salute Roger Ebert," says Mayor Richard M. Daley. "Ebert is a Pulitzer Prize winner who keeps giving back to his community through his academic endeavors as well as through his journalism. He has raised the bar for film critics everywhere through his in-depth analysis of the movies."

The Chicago Outdoor Film Festival is FREE and shows movies every Tuesday for seven weeks beginning
July 12 through August 23. Movies begin at sunset.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial - August 2,
8:39 p.m.
Henry Thomas, Drew Barrymore, Dee Stone
Steven Spielberg directs this well-known story of alien who is left behind in suburban California and the 10 year-old boy who befriends him and helps him to “phone home.”
(115 minutes)

The Night of the Hunter - August 9, 8:30 p.m.
Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters, Lillian Gish
In the only film directed by actor Charles Laughton, Mitchum chillingly plays a psychotic preacher with L-O-V-E and H-A-T-E tattooed on his knuckles. He terrorizes his stepchildren in pursuit of a fortune hidden in a little girl’s doll.
(93 minutes)

The Hustler - August 16, 8:20 p.m.
Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, Piper Laurie
Small-time pool hustler “Fast" Eddie Felson has a lot of talent but a self-destructive attitude causes him to challenge the legendary "Minnesota Fats" to a high-stakes match. In a heartbreaking marathon match, he loses everything, so Fast Eddie joins up with a ruthless and cutthroat manager who agrees to take him on the road to learn the ropes. But Felson soon realizes that making it to the top could cost him his soul.
(135 minutes)

Star Wars - August 23, 8:09 p.m.
Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Alec Guiness
George Lucas created a cultural phenomenon and iconoclastic characters in what we now know as Chapter #4 of this classic sci-fi serial. It’s where we first meet Princess Leia, captured by an evil tyrant, and the heroes, Luke Skywalker and Han Solo, who help to rescue her and destroy his empire.
1977 (121 minutes)

The screen measures (50’ x 34’) and boasts a state-of-the art sound system. Movies begin at sunset (see show times below) in Butler Field, Grant Park at Lake Shore Drive and Monroe. Admission is free,

Saturday, August 20: PPC's 7th Annual Post Air & Water Show Party at Party Central

Friends, Romans, Countrymen,

This Saturday, August 21st I will once again have my annual "Drinkstravaganza" and invite hundreds of friends over to trash my place and drink my booze, hosting the Sixth Annual Post Air & Water Show Party (PA&WS VI) in the Big Backyard at Party Central. Last year we had around 200+ people back there, the cops were called twice, and the kegs were killed in record time.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

WHAT: PPC's 7th Annual Post Air & Water Show Party - "PA&WS VII"

WHEN: Saturday August 20, 7:30pm - until the cops show up. This year we are starting earlier because this party has gotten so big it's no longer a matter of IF the cops will bust it up, but WHEN so if you want to party a lot, COME EARLY.

WHERE: 916-918 W. Fullerton (go around back on the 918 /left side of the building. Just East of the Fullerton Red/Brown Line Stop

WHY: To celebrate Summer in Chicago with old friends, meet new friends, kill off some funds we have leftover from the 13th Annual Chicago Fourth of July Party (which also kicked off at Party Central).

WHAT TO BRING: Yourself and some fun FRIENDS. Beer, wine, some mixed drinks, pop, water, and snacks will be provided. For the mixed drink crowd however, more bottles are always appreciated to help the cause.

Note, as I cannot fit 200 people into my 1000sqft condo, this party is WEATHER PERMITTING.

Hope to see you Saturday!
