Picture(s) of the Week!

New! You Can Now Find Last Week's Fridge Door Pictures of the Week on the PPC Home Page - Click Here

PPC Old School Vet JP is back in town and sharing a few cold ones with the gang at Jack's on Southport last Friday night. Uncle Pauli also represents that night.

Weekly Feature(s):

  • NPR Time-Kill of the Week: Looking at the World Through Beer Glasses. All Things Considered, May 13, 2005 · Robert Siegel talks about the history of beer with Tom Standage, technology editor at The Economist. A History of the World in Six Glasses is Standage's new book that traces the history of civilization through beer, wine, distilled spirits, coffee, tea and coca cola. Beer was first produced at the end of the ice age and became popular with the Sumarians.

  • Internet Time-Kill of the Week: Longevity Game. I have no idea how accurate this is, but it sure is interesting.... almost enough to make me a tea totler (almost) - Pam

Fridge Door Bonus Pic!

Here's a picture from Nora's Sox game outing at The Cell on Monday vs. the Anaheim Angels on Memorial Day. Absolutely gorgeous weather and a bottom of the 9th inning Sox win make for a perfect day. I didn't think I'd ever say this but with all the ticket brokers and rampant profiteering jacking up Cubs ticket prices, my next ball game might be at US Celluar Field! A few more pix from this event can be found here.

Special thanks to the over 400+ revelers who joined us for our largest 12 Bars of Christmas EVER!! We don't have an exact count because we ran out of wristbands for the first time ever! Hope everyone had a blast and mark your calendars for our next pub crawl, the PPC's 2nd Annual Ten Innings at Wrigley Pub Crawl in June 2005!!

Pictures from the 2004 PPC 12 Bars of Christmas can be found here.

Here's a classic photo op with the Milwaukee Fire Department's river patrol crew (the custom MFD Boston Whaler is pictured to the left) at the dock at the Milwaukee Ale House at Phil's boat party on the Five O'Clock Somewhere (forget about partying on pontoon boats, a half million dollar 50-foot Hatteras RULES!) last Saturday night. A few more pix from this outing can be found here.

3) Casey Moran's 5-6PM, $2 Miller Lite and Bud Light Drafts - The Second Flop Card will be turned over @ 5:30PM

6) Hi-Tops 8PM-Onward, $2 Domestic Beer Pints - The River Card will be turned over and announced @ 8:30PM, and the winners will be announced at 9PM.

How It Will Work...

The way it works is simple... if you've seen them play Texas Hold 'Em Poker on TV, you know how to play.  At the first bar, we will give everyone TWO CUSTOM FESTA STUFF PLAYING CARDS.  These are YOUR CARDS.   Then, because we'll have so many people, things will be a LITTLE different from the real thing.  At Bars 2, 3 and 4, we'll flop community cards, one per bar instead of 3 at a time.  At Bar 5, we will give everyone one more of THEIR OWN CARD.  We're doing this to make less people have the same hand.  Then, at Bar 6, we will turn the final community card, AKA "The River", and we'll then award prizes for the best hands.
We will have methods in place to settle tiebreakers, and also, to make sure you keep your own cards and don't trade them with other people :)

All the Prizes will be posted shortly!!!

Questions...  contact us @ info@festastuff.com or call our office @ 773-755-FESTA!

Friday, June 24th: Benefit for Room To Read at Chi Healing Center

Again we will be doing a benefit for the charity Room to Read as our June event.  We had excellent feedback on last year's event, a combination of a great cause with a cool venue and delicious food and drink.  We have already secured donations from Qdoba Mexican Grill, Trader Joe's, Fox & Obel, Three Floyds beer, Eli's Cheesecake, and others, so it will be quite a spread of goodies!  Becaue this is a benefit, the more the merrier, so please feel free to invite guests, pass along this email, etc.  The venue holds 150, and we'd like to fill it up!  Rochelle

A benefit for Room to Read
Friday, June 24th 7 - 11 p.m.

Enjoy cocktails, appetizers, dessert and inspiration with a cool crowd in a cool space, for the benefit of a great cause. Room to Read promotes literacy in Southeast Asia, and this event will raise money to provide scholarships for girls who otherwise would not have the opportunity to go to school!  A presentation by Room to Read Chapter President Tina Sciabica will give an overview of Room to Read's exciting work - find out why Room to Read has been honored as an innovative charity by Fast Company, and featured in Time and Forbes.  Meet us at Chi Healing Center, 1733 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Bucktown at 7 pm Friday June 24th.  Donation amount is at your discretion, but we are hoping that everyone who attends this event makes a tax-deductible contribution to Room to Read.  For more information on Room to Read, visit www.roomtoread.org. Please RSVP by June 23 to RNKOPP@aol.com.
