Picture(s) of the Week!

New! You Can Now Find Last Week's Fridge Door Pictures of the Week on the PPC Home Page - Click Here

Here's a picture of the guest of honor (far right) at Jen's going away party last Saturday night at Four Farthings. This was still early while most of us were still sober. Most of us. More pix from this wipeout can be found here. Also, Jen's pictures can be found here.

Weekly Feature(s):

  • NPR Time-Kill of the Week: Russian Beer Consumption a Growing Health Problem Russia might be famous for its vodka, but beer is becoming increasingly popular -- so much so that health officials now see it as a growing health problem. NPR's Lawrence Sheets says many Russians see beer as a kind of "soft drink." That leads to excessive consumption, and it's not unusual to see young teenagers drinking beer on the street.

  • Internet Time-Kill of the Week: Music from your senior year. Simultaneously interesting and scary.

Fridge Door Bonus Pic!

Here's a picture of my buddy Mike launching the long ball at Saturday afternoon's end of season tournament in Milwaukee. Our team, "The Misfits" made it into the second round, and then lost 2-1. But at least that meant we could head to the postparty that much earlier. As much as the Chicago crew put away at Four Farthings, from what I hear, the 'Fits really tied one on Saturday night! More pix of the tournament can be found here.

Here's a picture of a Michigan flag flying at the highest structural point at work, atop the access walkways by our LPG tank farm. It was flying most of the last week of October until some Michigan State alums complained to HR and had it taken down. Boooouuurns!!

The DMF crew—Lex, Howie, Dre, and Trish

PS--If you want to invite friends please click on the ‘invite more people’ link or have them email us at invite@datemyfriend.net

What can I expect at a DMF event?
DMF events are excellent opportunities to mix and mingle with large groups of like-minded singles, or just grab a drink with friends. DMF parties are not ‘speed-dating’ events and there is no formal matchmaking. However, we commonly facilitate introductions.

PPC's 8th Annual 12 Bars of Christmas Lincoln Park Neighborhood Pub Crawl

Saturday, December 4, 2004

Starting time and bar TBA

The Tradition Continues! What started out in December of 1997 as just a handful of friends joking around that we should go a 12-Bar tear to kill time on a Friday night in Lincoln Park has mushroomed into one of the largest free pub crawls in the City of Chicago with the event attracting over 300+ participants in 2003!

Although there have been evolutionary changes along the way, like moving the event onto Saturday night (so more folks could attend), free wristbands, and of course, pre-negotiated drink specials, our core traditions remain the same... good friends, good drinks, good times, and even some free Santa Hats for the early birds.

And even though this event has grown to one of the largest private pub crawls in the city, to this day we don't collect one penny from our friends for this event, as we do not wish to make your charitable giving decision for you by collecting on someone else's behalf. We think it's great that others do (so please be generous to the charity of your choice), but that's just not what we're all about. We're here to party!

See you all there!
