Picture(s) of the Week!

New! You Can Now Find Last Week's Fridge Door Pictures of the Week on the PPC Home Page - Click Here

Here's a picture of the teams after the infamous In Vino Veritas vs. Looking 2 Score Friday Pulaski rivalry game last week. L2S took the game 6-4 despite a late game rally by the Vinos. A few more pix can be found here. BTW - Don't ever use tequila to make Jell-O shots. Yuck!!

Weekly Feature(s):

  • NPR Time-Kill of the Week: Costco Tests Waters of Casket Market This week, the giant wholesale store Costco began test-marketing caskets in two of its suburban Chicago stores. Six models, priced at $799.99, can be delivered within 48 hours. Funerals can cost thousands and Costco hopes the shopper looking for bargains in its many other aisles won't be offended by the caskets for sale. NPR's Cheryl Corley reports.

  • Internet Time-Kill of the Week: The Home Computer in 2004 as Seen In 1954: From my buddy Pauli. Simply hilarious.

Fridge Door Bonus Pic!

Here's the wrecking crew from the Chicago HHH at Weed's on Sunday after the weekly run. A few more pix from this wipeout on a school night can be found here.

Here's a pic of the Philly Boyz - Fuji and Havsy following the Eagles 19-9 victory over the Bears at the new Soldier Field last Sunday. Wow, what an awesome new stadium! More pix from the game can be found here.

Hey Friends,

Last weekend was more backend loaded with a visit up 'Nort on Friday to catch the classic In Vino Veritas vs. Looking 2 Score rivalry kickball game at Pulaski and continuing my unbeaten streak in bar dice at Judge's. Saturday we helped our friend Sarah move to her new digs. Never get a 36" tube TV as those things weigh like 360lbs and it took six guys to move it. Saturday night Northwestern upset Ohio State at Ryan Field. I have never seen so much red outside of The Shoe. Sunday Havsy was rock solid scoring tix for the Eagles/Bears game.

This weekend the carnage continues, as our good friend and PPC co-founder Marietta is back in town and Mahu is roadtripping back from Wilmette so get ready to tie one one. Saturday is carbo load day and get ready for the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon on Sunday. And don't forget only one week left until Casino Swing!

Here's what's on the board this week:

Room to Read is having a benefit on October 7th.  Room to Read founder John Wood will be speaking, for those of you who missed him at our event in June.  An invitation is attached.  Room to Read is hoping that people who attend this event will be ones who are interested in really getting involved with this organization, either through volunteering and/or significant donations.

If you'd like to attend this event or have any questions, please email me (RNKOPP@aol.com).  RSVP is necessary as this event is being held in a private home and space is limited.

We cordially invite you to an evening in support of Room to Read, a nonprofit that promotes literacy and education for children in Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia and India. Please join us for Asian-inspired appetizers and cocktails and guest speaker, Room to Read founder John Wood.

PPC's 8th Annual 12 Bars of Christmas Lincoln Park Neighborhood Pub Crawl

Saturday, December 4, 2004

Starting time and bar TBA

The Tradition Continues! What started out in December of 1997 as just a handful of friends joking around that we should go a 12-Bar tear to kill time on a Friday night in Lincoln Park has mushroomed into one of the largest free pub crawls in the City of Chicago with the event attracting over 300+ participants in 2003!

Although there have been evolutionary changes along the way, like moving the event onto Saturday night (so more folks could attend), free wristbands, and of course, pre-negotiated drink specials, our core traditions remain the same... good friends, good drinks, good times, and even some free Santa Hats for the early birds.

And even though this event has grown to one of the largest private pub crawls in the city, to this day we don't collect one penny from our friends for this event, as we do not wish to make your charitable giving decision for you by collecting on someone else's behalf. We think it's great that others do (so please be generous to the charity of your choice), but that's just not what we're all about. We're here to party!

See you all there!
