Saturday, 7/1/2000 BBQ Party and Scavenger Hunt
T
he day begins with the traditional pre-Scavenger Hunt Party. The party is located at 916 W Fullerton, #G (the same place you sent your registrations). For locals, it’s on the North side of Fullerton, just east of Sheffield and the "L" tracks. The Red Line, Brown Line, and Purple Line "L" trains all stop at Fullerton so they’re always a good bet, as is the #8 Halsted bus. The party is in the back of the building – go around the left (918) side.

For those driving in, get off the Kennedy Expressway at exit 47 (Fullerton, conveniently, and head East approximately 1-1/2 miles (towards the lake). Once you get to Sheffield, start looking for parking. Open parking is available on Fullerton. Watch out for neighborhood streets which require Zone 143 Resident Parking Permits after 6:00pm. You can also roll the dice and park in the lot in front of Blockbuster Video at Fullerton & Sheffield. The signs say they tow but I’ve never seen it happen.

Party selections will include grilled chicken breast sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, chips, salads etc. yada yada yada (i.e. standard party fare). Of course a mixture of drinks will be provided - beer, some mixed drinks, and non-alcoholic sodas.

There are rules at this party:

The BBQ begins at Noon and will run until 5:45pm. At which time the event will come to a screeching halt. Yeah right! Actually, that's when you will be pulled away from everyone you know, put into a group of rowdy party goers and given instructions as to the Scavenger Hunt/Pub Crawl. It is estimated you’ll spend approx $20-$30 per person on the crawl, depending upon how much you drink (obviously), so bring a few bucks with you.

You will be receive a commemorative T-shirt, some Mardi Gras beads, a pen and sheet of paper with your questions to answer. You will be directed where to go with your team and the rules of play. You will have until 11p.m. to answer all questions and make it to the final location. The team with the most correct answers will win a trophy…bribery is strongly discouraged encouraged. Your referees will help you along the way. Then we all party at the last location and have the trophy presentation.

Sunday, 7/2/2000 - The Day After
If you can make it to the next day, meet at a special location (house, not bar) for a leftovers-brunch. This is for the survivors of the BBQ/scavenger hunt. This will be the time to commiserate with or regale you comrades with tales of partying legerdemain and nurse the unavoidable hangover. The location and timing will be published the day of the BBQ/Crawl.I

Monday, 7/3/2000 – Fireworks in Grant Park
A section of Grant Park will be yours for the taking. See the best fireworks show in the Midwest. Look for the big yellow "smiley face" flag (the same one we use for Sunday afternoon Beach Volleyball at North Ave. Beach. We’ll be on the lawn across from the Petrillo Band Shell (Columbus and Jackson) right by the Taste starting roughly 3:00p.m. on. The site will be marked off around 3pm and everyone is welcome to come early to get a tan, listen to live music and enjoy the Taste of Chicago. There are a variety of bands playing that day from rock to blues to jazz. The set up will be there come rain or shine. Fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30pm. Remember that alcoholic beverages are technically prohibited on Chicago Park District property, so be discreet and use good judgement. Afterwards, we’ll all head to Kincade’s (Armitage & Sheffield, next to the "L" tracks).

Tuesday, 7/4/2000 – Cubs Game at Wrigley
Cubs vs. Pirates! Those signed up should plan on meeting at the pre-party location. Tickets will be distributed as we see people at the earlier events. Those few for whom the game is their first event should make sure to come to the pre-game party to pick up your ticket!

The pre-game tailgate party will be held at the spiffy new Wrigleyville digs of PPC Co-Conspirator Sean Fifield. Address is 3511 N Wilton #4 (top buzzer), which is approximately 1 block East and one block South of Wrigley Field (Addison and Sheffield). The Red Line "L" (get off at the Addison stop) is the best bet as parking near Wrigley Field on a game day is both extremely inconvenient and obnoxiously expensive. Party starts at 11:30a.m. and the game starts at 1:20 p.m.
