Message from the PPC on this year's Fourth of July Party:

Thanks to everyone who has come out for this year's events so far! We had nearly 90 people on the Boat Cruise on Lake Michigan! Despite some earlier partly cloudy weather during the day, the clouds parted to give us a perfectly clear sky and a stunning view of the Chicago skyline on the boat. It was one of the best cruises ever! And the post cruise outing to the Hangge Uppe was a blast, as always. Cautionary note: The Red Line is closed for maintenance after midnight. Trying to find where you need to get off the surfaces buses they substitute in after all this partying can get you to Cabrini Green poste haste. Some of us found this out from experience.

The Picnic/Scavenger Hunt had a turnout of nearly 100 people this year on another picture perfect Saturday afternoon and evening. A great time was had by all! This was the first time we used Fuji's place on Fullerton and most will agree the "Big Backyard" was a great place to have the party. In fact, he's already offered (after several beers and shots) his place for the 10th annual party in July 2001! Congratulations to Heidi's team for winning the Scavenger Hunt and claiming this year's trophy!

The fireworks were also awesome - thanks to the crowd of die-hards who joined us in Grant Park despite the cool lake breeze and the haze which blew out into the lake just in time for the big show!  The Cubs game pre-party was another great time despite some technical issues with the grille and true to form, the Cubs once again managed to implode and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory (giving up six runs in the top of the ninth). But the post-game outing to the Cubby Bear was a blast as the PPC Central Committee celebrated the conclusion of another great party weekend with a (very) rare appearance on the dance floor!

For those who joined us for this year's festivities, thank y'all for celebrating the holiday with us and we hope you had a great time! We did!
