The Tradition Continues! What started out in December of 1996 as just a handful of friends joking around that we should go a 12-Bar tear to kill time on a Friday night in Lincoln Park has mushroomed into one of the largest free pub crawls in the City of Chicago with the event attracting over 275 participants in 2001. Although there have been evolutionary changes along the way, like moving the event onto Saturday night (so more folks could attend), free wristbands, and of course, pre-negotiated drink specials, our core traditions remain the same... good friends, good drinks, good times, and even some free Santa Hats for the early birds. And even though this event has grown to one of the largest private pub crawls in the city, to this day we don't collect one penny from our patrons for this event, as we do not wish to make your charitable giving decision for you by collecting on someone else's behalf. We think it's great that others do (so please be generous to the charity of your choice), but that's just not what we're all about. We're here to party! The PPC has selected the bars and a route for the Sixth Annual Twelve Bars of Christmas (yes, it's a compromise between the Thirty Bars of Ramadan and the Eight Bars of Hanukkah). Due to our ever-decreasing attention spans, once again, this year we have a completely new route. Unlike the Northbound march up Lincoln and Halsted we did last year, this year we head back down South similar to what we did in 2000 starting at the Union on Halsted and then heading South to Fullerton and then Northwest up Lincoln. As our dearly departed former ending bar, Bamboo Bernie's alas has seen its own "Last Call", we'll be ending the night dancing away at Deja Vu. See you all there! The Volunteer Pub Crawl Organizers of the Chicago PPC Date: Saturday, December 7, 2002 - starting at 5:00PM at the Union Tavern (2858 N. Halsted two blocks North of Diversey) NOTE TIME CHANGE: EVENT NOW STARTS AT 5:00PM AT THE UNION (One hour earlier = One extra hour at the bars!!) 2002 12 Bars of Christmas Bar Route & Specials List (This should be it!) |

Message From the PPC: Thanks to everyone who came out for yet another record-setting 12 Bars of Christmas! Final headcount was a record-setting 327! Wa-hoo! Special thanks to this year's volunteer planning committee who helped make it all happen. Folks like Sabby, Tanya "T" (the "nametag guy after Festa"), Tom, and even a celebrity, His Festa-ness ("the original nametag guy") whose 12 Bars is this coming weekend, and our rookies of the year, Kurt (who brought a ton of friends) Pam, Sophia, and Jen. PPC celebrity appearances abounded including some of the original founders of the PPC's 12 Bars, Chairman Emeritus, Eric Mahu and Sean Mini-mahu as well as PPC veterans such as Marietta, freshly back from London, Barnum, John Hipo, Pauli K & Sheila, Patno, Carmel, Doug (Karen gave him a hall pass), my good friend Liz from my Michigan MBA days, Grisela, the Dobinsmeister, Tina, Spiro, Don, Peter, "Green Bay" Jennifer, Heidi (sans her wild sister who is rumoured to be in town for Festa's 12 Bars) & Alyssa, Kari and Gigi from the Quaker Mafia, my roommate Dave and his sidekick Pam, Treva (we need to drag out George), an exremely rare Fitzie sighting with his new chick (what is her name again?), and even Anne who was on the Mahu's and my team on the Masters pub crawl came out of the woodwork to say howdy. Other celebrity notables included the Rejimeister as well as Patrick and the Iowans of the Diversey & Orchard party central fame, Dina who's married but still parties like us single folk (I think it's gonna take KIDS to stop her!) as well as newer additions from the CH3 crew like Aaron, Andy and Nelanka many others who were simply too numerous to mention here but whose presence helped make this year's event our best ever. Although the evening was a great time overall it did not go without a few hiccups such as the fact BW3 (now banned forever from future PPC events) wouldn't even let our rowdy crew in, and what will forever go down in pub crawl lore as the "infamous Winter Lucky Charms Incident" where pub crawl VIP Festa had his cereal confiscated as it was "messing up the bar too much". Speaking of the devil, this coming Saturday is the granddaddy of them all, Festa's TBOX7 which will likely be the largest 12 Bars of Christmas ever with over 1,000 people expected. I will be there "wire-to-wire". Click here to view Fuji's Pictures and Shaun & Festa's Pictures and Fifield's Pix.
